2008-04-01  update photos...showing yet another growth (behind left ear)
...this one appeared in 24 hours after Lina's received several bottles of "drip" at local hospital (for fever)
....which makes us think that maybe the two other small growths
also appeared as result of previous drips
...which means that all three small growths may not be cancers but drip liquid with nowhere to go?

In October 2007 I was asked to pray with Lina by one of her friends (who knew that our Zhaoqing team spends quite a bit of time ministering to the sick). 20 year old Lina had a terrible cancer near her right ear. No more chemotherapy was possible without depriving her of speaking and eating. A losing battle for both Chinese and Western medicine.

For two months our team visited her at home, a two hour return trip. At home she spent the day alone in a dark room.
On December 9 Lina moved to our Marco Polo Center where we have a clinic, one hundred lively children, fresh air and daily care.
On January 26, 2008 Zoobiotics in Wales kindly donated some medical maggots to treat Lina. The maggots did a good job at cleaning Lina's wound but could not reduce its size. In March 2008 we started using zeolite volcanic drops which have had success in similar cases in USA. (another zeolite link)
As Eugene de Mazenod said: "try everything!"
From a human point of view, Lina's prospects are not great, even though her strong faith and goodness have kept her going way past the doctors' expiry date. She also has two new growths, one near her throat, one near her left ear.
From the prayer angle, we keep plugging away...praying especially for healing of Lina's family tree....she has six older sisters...she was given away to kind foster parents when only two days old...her own parents going on eventually to produce a longed-for son. (Not a few cases here have been helped by our team when the Lord of History to whom all time belongs was asked to heal past damage caused by neglect/rejection/abortions/hurts etc).
Lina has a daily walk, practises positive thinking, listens to good music, does her own cooking/cleaning/washing, is always kind and
considerate of others....and receives Communion each day

Many thanks, dear friends, for including Lina in your prayers!

A memorable trip to Hong Kong to get maggots for Lina  (from diary of Feb 6)

Can be done....info may  be useful for others:  About 7pm on Friday night Jan 25, I received a phone call from Zoobiotics Centre in Wales, UK to say that maggot bandages for Lina had arrived in HK (several days earlier than expected)  and needed to be applied immediately or maggots would die. No HK friends could be found at such short notice to bring parcel to Zhaoqing....so at 9.30pm I set out in freezing cold and rain and mud to walk to San Mau village...then taxi to front of railway station...where (the first of many signs of Providence..) a bus from Lo Ding just happened to be stopped on its way to Guangzhou...so I got a ticket (Y20) and arrived in Guangzhou about 11.30....at which hour there was no bus to Shenzhen....but I discovered there's a network of taxis...some real taxis some moonlighting private cars....gathered at strategic points of Guangzhou for various destinations...(just as in HK there are special places for cross-harbor taxis) so I went  to Shenzhen rendezvous and got taxi to Shenzhen for Y250 (try beating that price at midnight...). Then discovered that Shenzhen Huang Gong border crossing is open 24 hours...with buses on HK side every 30 minutes to usual places (Mong Kong, Wan Chai etc). This enabled me to get to Notre Dame at 3.15am...where I spent less than 30 seconds inside the door collecting parcel and was on 3.30 return bus from Mong Kong (Prince Edward Rd) to Haung Gong...then another Y250 taxi to Guangzhou (try beating that price at 4.30am...)....after not a little triple negotiating with various parties as they played shift the goal posts game....arrived bus station next to Guangzhou old railway station at 6.20am in time for first bus (6.30am) to Zhaoqing...arrived Zhaoqing about 8.30am.....and  was back at Marco Polo before  9am ...in time for Macau Hope Group medical team to professionally apply bandages to Lina. An incredible night. DG it went safely.   Please see me if you need an overnight return tour to HK!
(..nearly forgot...final act of Providence: taxi driver from Zhaoqing bus station....in cold and wet to Marco Polo at 8.35am...I went to give him a bit extra for the difficult trip through mud and slush...to which he replied -without knowing about reason for HK trip - "no charge...you help poor people...my pleasure to give you a ride".  God bless you, mate!
